Electives
All students will study Mathematics, Science and English for the 4 semesters of years 9 and 10. The units Movements in Modern History and Australia in the Modern World are the compulsory SOSE units to be studied in year 9 and year 10. Students will also have a compulsory SHAPE unit in year 9 and in year 10. Students therefore have a total of 4 compulsory lines: Mathematics; Science; English; and SOSE/SHAPE and 3 elective lines. Please note that Dance can be considered as a SHAPE or an Art unit. If choosing a language or Senior Concert Band students need to select these for both semesters 1 and 2 as they are a full year course. The Elective handbook has general descriptions of course content, pre-requisites and financial contributions but students can talk to classroom teachers if they need more detail. If a class a student wishes to select is available on multiple lines they can make it their 1st preference on all lines but students will only be placed in it once and their 2nd preference will be entered for subsequent lines.
