Technology Enabled Learning Initiative

Student Chromebooks

To participate in the 'Better Schools for our Kids - Technology Enabled Learning Initiative' Chromebooks for students, -  families are required to read through the Chromebook Acceptance Form, sign and return the form to school.

Chromebooks will be delivered and given out to students early in first term 2018. There is a section to opt out of the Chromebook Initiative if you do not wish to participate

Year 10 students are to return their forms to their current High Schools - these students will receive their Chromebooks in 2018 at the college they will be attending.

All Forms are to be returned ASAP Failure to return the signed form will mean students are NOT eligible to receive a Chromebook.

ACT Government Announcement

On Friday 8 September, Minister Yvette Berry announced that the ‘ACT Government has taken an important step towards delivering one of its major education commitments – free electronic devices for all ACT public high school and college students.’ The devices will be chromebooks which are compatible with our Google platform. Further advice will be provided to schools and parents in coming weeks on the exact timing for the delivery of these devices.

Year 9 Exhibitions 2017

Monday 11 September through till Friday 15 September

Year 9 students at Canberra High School are participating in the Exhibitions Program reflecting on the question, ‘How have I demonstrated growth as a learner at Canberra High School?’ They will prepare a portfolio of their work undertaken this calendar year and present it to a panel in a roundtable format reflecting on their growth as a learner.

'Think U Know' - Cyber Safety Session for parents will be held in the school library from 6pm-8pm.

This is a very helpful and informative session for parents of teenagers. Tea and coffee will be available.

Year 7 Camp 2017

The Year 7 camp to Jindabyne Sports and Recreation Centre is from Wednesday 15 February until Friday 17 February.

Students arrive at school by 8:40am on Wednesday 15 February and assemble in the school hall. Buses will leave approx. 9.30am.Students will return approximately 3.30pm Friday 17 February.

Thursday November 3 from 6pm

Student/ Child - $5, Adult - $10, Family - $20 

Students from the school’s Arts and Technology Faculties will showcase their skills in a variety of performances and displays.

The evening will feature dance, band and music performances, and a festival of short films and animations created by our media students. A highlight of the evening will be the performance of the school’s drama production Twisted, written as a collaborative project by the Drama Production class.

A gallery of student work from Visual Arts, Digital Media, Photography, Ceramics, Textiles, Food, Wood & Metal Technology classes will be on display throughout the evening. A Showcase Award will be awarded to one art work or project from each category, as judged by the school’s executive teachers and our guest speaker for the evening, Ms Fiona Dace-Lynn, Director of Technology and design at CIT.

Members of the P & C will be selling delicious barbecue food and other refreshments. 

Come along and help to celebrate the achievements of our students!

Central Australia Trip

Students attending the Central Australian excursion are due back mid to late morning on Friday 14 October - ETA - approximately 10:30am. The return trip has been diverted due to road closures. Arrival time at present remains on schedule with minimal delay.

CHS Annual Athletics Carnival

Canberra High School will be holding its annual Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 26 October 2016. This year the carnival will be held at the Jamison Enclosed Oval. Students are required to be at the venue by 8:40am.

There will be a sausage size and drinks available from 10am.

Parent Teacher Interviews and PTO

Parent/Teacher Interviews for Term 3 2016 will be held on Thursday 15 September from 3:30 to 7:00pm .

Parents are able to book Interviews using PTO.

PTO (Parent Teacher Online) booking system is now active. Parents will receive their PTO Login in the mail with their students report. You may then go online and book Parent/Teacher Interviews. If you have any difficulty phone the school reception on 62057000 and we will assist you.

CHS P&C Meeting 6 September

The Canberra High School P&C will be held at 7pm on Tuesday 6 September 2016. Everyone is welcome to come along and find out how the P&C assists the school and to find out what's happening within the school community. This is a relaxed and enjoyable evening for everyone.

CHS Athlethics Carnival

Open Night and Enrolments for Year 7 2018

Canberra High School will hold an Open Night on Thursday May 18 2017 starting at 6pm in the school Hall and finishing at 8pm. All faculties will be open and staff will be available to answer questions. All family members are welcome.

Year 6 prospective students are invited to come to an Open Morning on the 16, 17 or 18 May. Bookings for Open Mornings are essential. Please phone 62057004.
