Welcome to Canberra High School

Canberra High

Canberra High School Vision and Mission

Canberra High School is a diverse community of independent learners who are equipped with the skills and attitudes to become confident, creative and active citizens

We will do this by:

  • engaging in challenging and innovative learning
  • modelling and nurturing respectful relationships
  • fostering curiosity and a growth mindset
  • providing a range of pathways for students to succeed

Canberra High School is a leader in the secondary education sector. Our learning community encompasses not just the students and staff here but also the parents and wider community. This type of support and community involvement enriches the learning experiences of our students.

We are a long established school and have been operating since 1938. Canberra High School was originally based at the current School of Art at the Australian National University and moved to our current site in Macquarie on 21 August 1969. There have been many changes since 1938 providing a relevant curriculum and contemporary learning environment for students of the 21st century.

We currently have approximately 800 students enrolled in Years 7 to 10 with over 40 different nations represented within our student population giving us a very multicultural school.

CHS Parents and Citizens

CHS Parents & Citizens

Canberra High School is very fortunate to have an active and enthusiastic community of parents and citizens. Our P&C welcomes all Canberra High parents, carers and community members. The P&C contributes to the school and students by managing the canteen, operating a second-hand uniform store, providing a forum for sharing information and ideas, and helping raise funds for activities, services and equipment.

If you would like to know more or are able to offer some time or expertise, come along to a meeting or email us: secretary@chs.pandc.asn.au

You can also register for the P&C mailing list here: https://www.chs.pandc.asn.au

P&C Meetings are held twice per term on Tuesdays between 7.00 to 8.30pm in Weeks Three and Eight. Join our next meeting to find out about our activities, share your ideas and hear updates from our Principal and Board.
